Some pictures of the lodge

A good look at the 'Gol Ghar' or the central meeting place. There are several sitting decks around this area where guests can sit around a camp fire and enjoy a drink before dinner.

This picture gives a good idea of the pool at the lodge. There are some nice decks around the pool where guests can unwind after trips to the jungle.

A taste of the many surprises that Reni Pani has in store for guests especially for meals.

On the right is a photo of a forest unit. The rooms a luxurious yet simplistic giving patrons a unique experience. There are several interesting local artifacts that are placed in each room.

Here we have the dining area in the 'Gol Ghar' or the central meeting place.
A glimse of the barbeque below.

Hello Everyone

Reni Pani Jungle Lodge is a newly opened lodge opened in the Satpura Tiger Reserve which is located in the Central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. Reni Pani is a fine example of a contemporary wildlife and conservation focused jungle lodge. The lodge is located approximately 6 kilometres away from the Satpura Tiger Reserve, which is believed to be one of Central India’s best kept secrets. The Satpura Tiger Reserve is spread over 1,500 square kilometres of pristine wildlife habitat and is one of the few true modern day wilderness spots left in the country.

The lodge is spread over 30 acres of striking forest cover typical of Satpura National Park. The camp-site encompasses exactly what a nature lover would want, magnificent trees, a sprawling meadow, a seasonal nallah, uneven yet beautiful topography and water holes that attract several species of birds and animals. The lodge itself has 12 independent units, each with its own room and private deck, made with materials completely indigenous to the local area. Additionally, we have a lounge, a bar, a dining room and a library all embedded in different parts of a single structure called the ‘gol ghar’. The camp also features a fascinating swimming pool located along a curve in the nallah, offering a sensational blend of luxury in the midst of ultimate wilderness.

The Satpura National Park and Tiger Reserve is extremely well known for its biodiversity. The fact that a number of animals including the elusive leopard, the sloth bear, the Indian Wild Dog, hordes of Indian Gaur, Sambhar and other herbivores are sited here, makes this a unique reserve where the park guides are actual naturalists and not mere 'tiger trackers'. Reni Pani Jungle Lodge itself has two very well trained naturalits who escort patrons to the park for the 4X4, walking, boat or elephant safaris this park has to offer.

This is a very exciting new initiative taken forward by us where we plan to deliver a luxurious wildnerness experience while treading lightly on the environment. We at Reni Pani have taken several measures to minimize our impact on the environment and it is our endeavour to evolve as we move along. For starters, we have preserved natural enviorment of the property and not one tree has been cut during the development stage. In fact there over 2,000 indigenous saplings have been planted on campus in the last two years. Costly battery operated invertors or UPS systems have been fitted in the central meeting areas and in each room in order to avoid / minimize the use of our back-up generator. All materials used have been locally procured after evaluation of their enivornmental impact. The use of furniture at the lodge has been minimal. All beds and sitting areas within bedrooms have been carved into the structure itself. The furniture used in the central areas at Reni Pani is re-furbished old furniture procured from our parent hotel which is located in Bhopal.

Reni Pani Jungle Lodge has also made it a point to involve the local community in running the camp. Close to 50% of the employees here are from the near by village called Reni Pani (Our camp is named after the village). This practice has helped in uplifting the locals and minimizing their dependance on forest produce, which is a key factor in restoring the floral and faunal heritage of the area. Our staff conducts english and other tutorial classes for the village kids providing them with an opportunity to excell in their studies. Campus cleaning of our Reni Pani Village is a regular activity. A majority of our food supplies including vegetables, meat, milk, grains etc are all procured locally bearing indirect benefits to several locals. Apart from working closely with the local population we also work hand-in-hand with the forest department and park authorities of the Satpura National Park and Tiger Reserve. Our lodge, along with other lodges in the area, are working over time to ensure that this park does not become over crowded like the other parks in Central India. In order to promote the park to an aware crowd we have attempted to limit the number of jeeps going into the park. To do so the lodge assocation in Satpura and the forest department have actively introduced non-polluting ways of exploring the park which include walking safaris, elephant safaris and boat safaris. These activites are more popular amongst an enthusiast pool which is relatively more aware and concsious of their actions making Satpura, a park where the overall experience is far more rewarding.

It is our continuous endeavour to progressively improve what we are doing in terms of services and actions and we hope we can create an environment where our guests get an exclusive experience which then leads to inclusive benefits for conservation, the local community and us.

We have started this blog to interact with people who have visited the lodge, who may want to visit or anyone who is interested in wildlife, conservation, culture and travel. We wish to continue posting thereby keeping everyone informed on sightinngs in the park, new initiatives, wildlife updates and maybe anything that comes to mind or an experience that we think is worth sharing.
